Radio Banateanu, managed by Mario Irinel, is an online radio station dedicated to Romanian Popular, Ethno, and Party Music. With a passion for broadcasting since 2012 and an audience exceeding 100,000 loyal listeners, Mario faced significant challenges in monetizing his platform and providing a seamless, unforgettable experience for his listeners—primarily aged 35+, with the largest group between 55 and 64 years old.

Project Overview

Mario Irinel approached the Growably team in 2020 with the vision of modernizing Radio Banateanu and solving two major challenges:

  • Finding effective ways to generate income from his growing audience.
  • Simplifying website management for himself and his team, who mirrored the target audience and struggled with traditional interfaces.

Growably’s approach combined user-friendly design, automation, and artificial intelligence to create a modern digital experience for both the listeners and the radio management team.

Custom Dashboard for Moderators and MCs

  • Designed an intuitive dashboard to simplify posting new music trends and news updates.
  • Built a user-friendly front-end tailored specifically for the target audience’s needs, ensuring ease of use.

Real-Time Listener Engagement

  • Integrated an internal chat system to allow listeners to:
    • Communicate with each other in real time.
    • Send live song requests and interact with moderators.

Automated Notifications

Implemented advanced automations to notify listeners across all major distribution channels, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and others.

  • Notifications were enhanced using AI-generated messages based on:
    • Time and date (day of the week, holidays, or notable events).
    • Song recommendations with details about the song, artist, and lyrics for message enrichment.

Monetization via Google Ads

Integrated Google Ads to capitalize on the traffic from Radio Banateanu’s loyal listeners, generating revenue without disrupting the user experience.

WordPress-Powered Backend

  • Utilized WordPress for the back-end, providing a robust, scalable foundation.
  • Developed custom components to ensure smooth operations and align with Radio Banateanu’s specific needs.
